Bon Secours Health System Limerick at Barringtons hosts GP Study Morning

Bon Secours Health System Limerick at Barringtons hosted a GP Study morning in the Dunraven Arms Hotel on Saturday the 17th of June. The event was a great success and hosted 30 local GP’s from the Mid-West region. The format for the morning was a round table discussion and proceedings were opened by Mr. Jason Kenny, the newly appointed Hospital Manager who warmly welcomed all delegates to a highly engaged learning session. 

Overall there were 7 subjects covered as hosted below by the Consultants and the morning's learning awarded 4 CPD points. The informal learning session saw each of the Consultants host a table, this created an involved learning session as each of the Consultants moved table to table throughout the morning to meet with all the delegates.

GYNAECOLOGY Minimal Invasive Urogynaecology & Pelvic Organ Prolapse Facilitated by: Mr Muhammad Umar, Consultant Gynaecologist

ORTHOPEDICS Joint Replacements & Sports Injuries Facilitated by: Mr Joseph Sparkes, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon & Mr Denis Dartee, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon 

PAIN MANAGEMENT Case Studies Facilitated by: Dr Brendan Conroy, Consultant Pain Specialist & Dr Martin Shelly, Consultant Radiologist

UROLOGY Common Urological Conditions Recent Studies on Prostate Cancer, Observe or Treat Facilitated by: Dr Deirdre Fanning, Consultant Urologist & Mr John Drumm, Consultant Urologist

Mr John Drumm, Consultant Urologist lead the closing address thanking all the GP’s for their attendance and continued support of the hospital before he and all the Consultants hosted an informal luncheon with the GP’s rounding off a very productive morning . The overall feedback from the attending GP’s was excellent, many shared that they found the round table format far more bespoke and enabled them to table their specific questions to the Consultants.
