World Heart Day 29th September 2019

Sunday 29th September 2019 marked the annual World Heart Day.  Organised by the World Heart Federation to generate awareness and positive heart health world wide, it the biggest global awareness campaign for Cardiovascular Disease.  One of the main objectives is to light the world red and here at the Bon Secours Hospital we joined that challenge by illuminating the building red for the week leading up to World Heart Day.

In addition to that this year the theme was to celebrate the every day heart heroes we have here in the hospital, from the housekeeping and catering staff to the team in the Cath Lab we were delighted that so many people joined the initiative and got creative with pictures.

Finally at the latter part of the week we joined up with Croí, the West of Ireland Cardiac & Stroke Foundation, to ask people to “make a promise” to their hearts.  Healthcare professionals, patients and other staff were asked to sign and make their own individual promise to look after their heart health.

Thanks to everyone for participating, we continue to encourage healthy hearts for all our patients/staff.
