The Bon Secours Hospital Galway celebrated World Heart Day on the 29th of September 2017 by "going red". Cardiovascular disease (CVD) continues to be the leading cause of death and disability in the world. This annual event was launched to promote awareness and healthy heart initiatives. The theme this year was to highlight what each of us do to power our heart, be it walking to work, getting regular health checks or adopting a healthier lifestyle. The staff in the hospital were invited to write their own messages on a board to inspire and encourage others to "share the power".
