Philip O’ Connor is a graduate from RCSI Medical School (1996).  His main areas of clinical practice include adult spinal surgery and hip and knee replacement.  Philip completed his surgical training on the Irish Higher Surgical Training programme in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, obtaining his degree FRCSI (Tr. & Orth.) in 2008.  He was awarded CCST and entered onto the specialist register.

He then undertook fellowship training in Canada, spending one year at the Joint Replacement Institute at the University of Western Ontario, under Dr. Robert Bourne, training in all aspects of primary and revision Hip and knee replacement surgery.

Philip subsequently completed a second fellowship in spine surgery at the University of Montréal, training in all aspects of adult spine surgery, under Drs. A. Jodoin, G. Maurais, P. Khoeuir and J.M. Mac-Thiong.  He gained experience in minimally invasive trauma, adult degenerative and deformity surgery. Additional training was undertaken in scoliosis surgery, under Dr. H. Labelle and Dr. S. Parent.

Philip O’ Connor has published several book chapters and numerous papers in the Orthopaedic and Spine literature.

He is member of several academic societies including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and AO Spine.

Mr. O’ Connor has an interest in the surgical treatment of all adult spinal conditions, and hip and knee replacements.
