Bon Secours Foundation Day

Today is Bon Secours Foundation Day – the day on which we recall the foundation of the Bon Secours Congregation by Josephine Potel, in Paris, in 1824. It’s a special day for everyone who is part of the Bon Secours story of providing Good Help to Those in Need. Happy Foundation Day!

In particular we recall with gratitude the vision, courage and compassion of the small group of French Sisters who came to Dublin 181 years go to bring the mission of Bon secours to Ireland. Dublin was the very first place outside of France where the Sisters brought their mission.

Having commenced their ministry of caring for the sick and the dying in their own homes in Dublin’s city centre, the Sisters moved to Glasnevin and opened our hospital in 1951.To us has been entrusted the mandate to continue that ministry of providing compassionate care to the sick and the dying in every aspect of hospital life, patient facing and non-patient facing alike.

A special feature of Foundation Day this year is the celebration of Long Service Awards for colleagues who were due their award in 2020 and 2021. We didn’t have a Long service Award ceremony in those years due to Covid.

This evening, the Long Service Awards ceremony will be live-streamed on our YouTube Channel at 7pm. Please log on and join us! A representative of each year group will be there to accept the award from Mike Tonery, CEO on behalf of all those celebrating 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 years of service.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our staff for everything that you do in service of our mission to bring good help to those in need.
