PHYSIO CONSULTATION PROCESS

Our inpatient service provides services to patients who are admitted to the hospital and require physiotherapy. The team works closely with the consultant team and individual departments throughout the hospital to provide an integrated approach to the care of all patients. Patients referred to the service include those who may have undergone a range of procedures including orthopaedic, cardiac, gynaecological and neurological surgery or who suffer from a wide range of respiratory related or other chronic medical conditions.

Patients receive appropriate treatment and rehabilitation and, in preparation for their discharge, are given advice and a programme of exercises. Patients may then continue physiotherapy on an outpatient basis.

On referral, outpatients undergo a comprehensive assessment and then a tailored treatment prescription is developed for them. The first session normally lasts 45 minutes and ongoing treatment sessions normally 30 minutes.

Appointments can be made by contacting the Physiotherapy Department directly on 01 806 5339.  Appointments are usually available within 24 to 48 hours.

GP referrals can also be sent via Healthlink or by secure email from a healthmail email address to physio@bonsecours.ie
