The Orthopaedic Surgery team at Bon Secours Hospiral Dublini consists of nine Consultants who provide assessment, intervention and treatment for numerous common and complex musculoskeletal conditions such as ankle, knee and hip replacement as well as spinal and shoulder surgery for patients throughout Dublin and wider Leinster region.
The Orthopaedic Department is fully equipped to provide the best orthopaedic care for patients including a dedicated laminar flow operating theatre for performing joint replacement surgery including ankle, hip and knee replacement. There is also a dedicated orthopaedic ward that has been recently refurbished and which is staffed by a very experienced and compassionate team of nurses and physiotherapists in Dublin.
The Department also benefits from extensive medical backup from the large number of experienced medical Consultants who are on hand in the hospital.

The Department is at the forefront of modern orthopaedic medicine. Continuous advancement and investment in technology together with continuing education sets the Department apart from others. Recent technological advancements include the installation of a digital templating system, the Kingmark system to calibrate of all X-Ray's together with the installation of the ‘Vissionaire” system to precisely plan joint replacement surgery, facilitates more accurate placement of joint replacement components which can reduce operating time.

Mr Philip Brady is a graduate of University College Dublin (2000). He completed his training in orthopaedic surgery on the Higher Surgical Training Programme in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, obtaining his degree FRCS (Tr & Orth) in 2012.
He completed two years of subspeciality fellowship training in Canada on the Toronto Arthroplasty & Lower Extremity Reconstruction Fellowship (Sunnybrook Hospital and Holland Orthopaedic Centre). His fellowship covered all aspects of knee and hip replacement surgery, revision knee replacement surgery, minimally invasive knee surgery and upper and lower extremity trauma. He returned to Ireland in 2014 to commence his practice and joined the Bon Secours Hospital Orthopaedic Team in June 2017.

Olivia graduated from the University of Dundee, Scotland in 2000 and completed her basic surgical training in Scotland before returning home to Ireland. After completing and being awarded a masters in surgery from Trinity College Dublin, she entered the Higher Specialist training programme in Trauma and Orthopaedics. She was awarded a FRCS in Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery with RCSI in December 2011. Olivia then went on to complete 2 years of fellowship, one year in the Auckland Regional Hand Service and the second year in Wrightington Upper Limb in the UK. She passed the European Board of Hand Surgery Diploma examination in Paris in 2014.
In addition to her practice in the Bon Secours Hospital Dublin, Olivia also works at Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital and Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown.
Olivia specialises in all areas of Hand and Wrist, Elbow and Shoulder Surgery.

Aaron is a UCD graduate (2000) and completed his higher surgical training in Ireland, gaining CCST in the field of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in 2011.He gained a Master's Degree in Surgery in 2008. He completed Fellowships in hip and knee replacement, hip preservation surgery and trauma orthopaedics at the prestigious Rothman Institute in Philadelphia, the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center, Toronto, and at the Inselspital in Bern.
He is a publicly appointed consultant in orthopaedic surgery based in Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan Co. Meath, and is a member of the Irish Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeons, Irish Orthopaedic Association, and American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

Philip O’ Connor is a graduate from RCSI Medical School (1996). His main areas of clinical practice include adult spinal surgery and hip and knee replacement. Philip completed his surgical training on the Irish Higher Surgical Training programme in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, obtaining his degree FRCSI (Tr. & Orth.) in 2008. He was awarded CCST and entered onto the specialist register.
He then undertook fellowship training in Canada, spending one year at the Joint Replacement Institute at the University of Western Ontario, under Dr. Robert Bourne, training in all aspects of primary and revision Hip and knee replacement surgery.
Philip subsequently completed a second fellowship in spine surgery at the University of Montréal, training in all aspects of adult spine surgery, under Drs. A. Jodoin, G. Maurais, P. Khoeuir and J.M. Mac-Thiong. He gained experience in minimally invasive trauma, adult degenerative and deformity surgery. Additional training was undertaken in scoliosis surgery, under Dr. H. Labelle and Dr. S. Parent.
Philip O’ Connor has published several book chapters and numerous papers in the Orthopaedic and Spine literature.
He is member of several academic societies including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and AO Spine.
Mr. O’ Connor has an interest in the surgical treatment of all adult spinal conditions, and hip and knee replacements.

Mr O Flanagan is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and a Fellow of the RSCI and College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in Orthopaedics. He is a member of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine in RCPI & RCSI and previously was an examiner in Orthopaedic Speciality Exams, Inspector of Orthopaedic Training Post and past Secretary of the Institute of Orthopaedics in Ireland.
He has worked for over 20 years as an Orthopaedic Consultant.

Foot and Ankle Surgery in Adults and Children
James Walsh specialises in adult reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, sports foot & ankle surgery and minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery.
James is a graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (2001). Following this, he completed his basic surgical training in Dublin and was awarded a Master of Surgery (MCh) degree from University College Dublin in 2008. He completed his training in orthopaedics and foot & ankle surgery on the Irish Higher Surgical Training programme in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, obtaining his degree FRCS (Tr&Orth) in 2011.
He then undertook subspecialty fellowship training in Australia in 2012 on the Sydney Foot and Ankle fellowship (Royal North Shore Hospital) for 1 year, covering all aspects of foot and ankle surgery, including degenerative disease, sports and trauma, minimally invasive and arthroscopic surgery.
He followed his training in Sydney with clinical attachments at the Kantonsspital Hospital Liestal Switzerland, focusing on ankle and distal tibial surgery and at the Amsterdam Medical Centre, Netherlands, specialising in arthroscopic ankle surgery techniques.
In addition to his practice in the Bon Secours Hospital Dublin, James also works at Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital and Beaumont Hospital, Dublin.
He is a member of both the Irish Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (IOFAS) and the European Foot and Ankle Society (EFAS).
