Donation to Cancer Research in Bon Secours Cork

Samuel O’Doherty the famous traditional music and box accordion player from Tipperary passed away in the Bon Secours Cork earlier this year.

Sam O'Doherty was first and foremost a husband to Kate, a father to Kay, Shane, Saine, Samantha, Sammy & Aisling, and devoted grandfather to 13 grandchildren. He was also a well known and loved musician, who entertained all across Ireland and further afield. Music was his passion, his talent and his soul, and he shared that with everyone who came into contact with him.

Always ready with a grin, a joke and nod of the head, Sam is sorely missed by all that knew him but he lives on through his family and his music and will never be forgotten.

The O'Doherty family are very grateful to Sam's musician friends and his supporters in the world of music who have generously supported fundraising for cancer research in Sam's
memory. Everyone involved in Sam's care during his time with cancer was exceptional, and supported Sam as best as their skills, knowledge and technology allowed.
Cancer research will help improve prevention and treatment and increase the number of people surviving. The O'Doherty and Sam's friends will continue to support this worthy cause.

His family inspired by his memory and the care which he received in Bon’s Cork have raised €2000 euros towards Cancer Research in the Bon Secours Cork.

Dr Brian Bird, Consultant Medical Oncologist says “through research and new drugs we hope to bring better quality of life and cure to Irish Cancer Patients”.

Mr Harry Canning SEO Bon Secours Cork thanked the family for their generous donation. Cancer Research in Bon Secours Cork, a member of the Cancer Trials Ireland consortium is only possible with the full support of Bon Secours Management.
