Bon Secours Hospital Cork - 21 years of Oncology Clinical Trials

The Bon Secours Hospital, Cork, recruited the first Gastro-oesophageal patient in the Republic of Ireland to the Add-Aspirin study. The Add-Aspirin study is a large phase III, double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomised trial assessing the effects of aspirin on disease recurrence and survival after primary therapy in common non-metastatic solid tumours. This study is being run in Ireland, the UK and India. For more information have a look at http://www.addaspirintrial.org/

The Bon Secours Hospital, Cork, also recruited the first patient to the LYNK-002 trial in Ireland in the past month. This study is a phase 2 study of Olaparib monotherapy in participants with previously treated, Homologous Recombination Repair Mutation (HRRm) or Homologous Recombination Deficiency (HRD) Positive Advanced Cancer. So far 14 patients have consented to part-take on this trial at the Bon Secours Hospital Cork but only one patient has been successful. Referrals have been received from many centres to us for this study including CUH and WUH.

Lastly, the first patient in Ireland was also recruited in the Bon Secours Hospital, Cork to the Colossus trial. This trial is trying to identify new patient stratification tools in microsatellite stable (MSS) RAS mt metastatic Colorectal Cancer and is a very important trial being run in Ireland, Germany and Spain.
