The lung cancer team encompasses a multitude of disciplines, including interventional pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, radiation oncologists and others. The team discusses each patient’s needs collaboratively and devises treatments that will provide the highest success rate with the fewest complications. The physicians combine clinical expertise with the latest advances in medical, surgical and radiation oncology research.
After an abnormal finding on a chest X-ray or CT scan, our specialists use auto fluorescence bronchoscopy, which allows even the smallest abnormalities to be revealed with no associated risk factors. Navigational bronchoscopies allow physicians to view and obtain precise biopsies of abnormalities located in the periphery of the lung. By using this procedure, diagnostic accuracy has increased by approximately 70 percent.
Day-case diagnostic/staging bronchoscopy can be offered within the internationally recommended two-week timeframe (please clarify by follow up phone call regarding appointments as annual leave can occasionally effect these time frames).
Further radiological imaging e.g. CT scans. MRI, isotope bone scan is also available when necessary.
