Dr Peter Browne is a Consultant Rheumatologist at the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee and Limerick. He studied medicine at University College Cork. Following graduation, he went on to train in musculoskeletal ultrasound in the United Kingdom and in Norway and has completed EULAR/EFSUMB accredited Ultrasound training to advanced level. Dr Browne has a Masters Degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine and is a Fellow of the Faculty of Sports & Exercise Medicine. Dr Browne has participated in numerous publications, research projects and presentations, and has twice won Medical Grand Rounds Presentation of the Year. Dr Browne is the Chief Medical Information Officer for the Bon Secours Group Ireland and is involved in the acquisition and implementation of a national electronic health record for the group.
Dr Browne has a special interest in the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound in diagnosing and monitoring inflammatory arthritis, use of musculoskeletal ultrasound in large vessel vasculitis, osteoporosis, and pain syndromes including fibromyalgia. He is also very interested in the role of technology in medicine.
