Dr James Ryan is a Consultant Endocrinologist at the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee. Dr Ryan received his primary medical degree from Trinity College Dublin in 1999. Dr Ryan became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2003, completing his specialist training in General Medicine in 2007 and Endocrinology and Diabetes Mellitus in 2011.
Dr Ryan obtained a Masters in Sports and Exercise Medicine in University College Cork in 2007 and a PhD Fellowship from University College Cork in 2010. Dr Ryan was appointed a Fellow of the College of Sports Medicine in 2015. On completion of his specialist training, he accepted a post as an Honorary Clinical and Research Fellow in Addebrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge and also in Cambridge University.
Dr. Ryan's areas of research and special interest include genetic forms of diabetes and insulin resistance.
