Dr Caitriona Buckley is a Consultant Rheumatologist and General Physician at the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee. Dr Buckley graduated from University College Cork in 1998. She completed basic medical training in Cork and went on to pursue specialist training in rheumatology in the UK. She completed specialist training in rheumatology in the West Midlands in 2007. During this time she gained experience in centres of excellence for Systemic Sclerosis in Salford, and for Vasculitis and Connective Tissue Diseases in Birmingham. Following her training she worked in the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath where she managed the Ankylosing Spondylitis service. She returned to Ireland in 2009, and has worked at the Bon Secours Tralee since then. Dr Buckley is a member of the Irish and British Societies for Rheumatology.
Dr Buckley sees the full spectrum of rheumatic disease in her out patient clinic. She has specialist interest in inflammatory arthritis, including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis and the Spondyloarthropathies. She also has particular interest in Vasculitis and the Connective Tissue Diseases. She is a strong advocate of early diagnosis and aggressive management of inflammatory disease.
