The hospital provides inpatient services where individual patient needs are met by specialist teams.

Nursing Department:

Our Director of Nursing Siobhan Judge has both a positive and passionate outlook towards her team and strives on a daily basis to be a reliable resource for both her Nurses and also a patient advocate.

We are accredited by An Bord Altranais as a Student Nurse Training site with GMIT for the BSC in Nursing Degree supported by the Clinical Placement Co-ordinator and Link Lecturers.

Nursing Units:

Potel Ward:

Our 26 Bedded Orthopaedic unit is under the care and Guidance of Amanda Perrill and Sinead Joyce, Clinical Nurse Managers. 

St.Mary's Ward:

22 Bedded unit which incorporated Paediatric Ear, Nose and Throat patients and Gynaecology under the Guidance of Assumpta Shannon and Brendan Barrett Clinical Nurse Manager. 

St. Jarlath's Ward:

17 Bedded Medical Unit which is under the watchful eye of Claire Ward and Aine Carroll Clinical Nurse Manager. 

St. Clare's Ward:

24 Bedded Surgical unit including Breast Care and Urology under the watchful Guidance of Aine Cloonan and Lucy McHale Clinical Nurse Managers.

Our Acute Dependency Unit is a 7 Bedded Level 1 care unit which is co-ordinated and led by Paritha Abraham Clinical Nurse Manager.

Dayward:

The Hospital has a 22 Bedded Day Ward to facilitate short stay minor operative procedures and is led by Hilary Kelly and Sarah Martyn Clinical Nurse Managers.

Outpatients:

The Outpatients Department and dedicated nursing team is led by Caroline Lyons, Clinical Nurse Manager. Consultant referrals for outpatient services include post operative wound care, phlebotomy, venesection, preoperative screening and skin allergy testing. 

The Hospital has a busy innovative Endoscopy unit under the Guidance of Trish Murphy and Katie O'Boyle Clinical Nurse Managers.

Clinical Nurse Specialist:

At Bon Secours Hospital Galway, we currently employ the following Clinical Nurse Specialists: Infection Control, Urodynamics, Respiratory Medicine, Breast, Haemovigilance Cardiology and Occupational Health.  These specialist nurses work alongside hospital staff in providing education and advice to both medical and nursing personnel ensuring the best practice is adhered to at all times.
