    February 2, 2017. Bon Secours Health System is delighted to announce today that the Group has completed the acquisition of Barringtons Hospital Limerick. Peter Lacy, Group Chairman said: “I would like to personally thank all the staff and management at Barringtons for their patience and perseverance during the acquisition period and would formally like to welcome the Barringtons staff to the Bon Secours Health System. We also look forward to serving the community in the Limerick area in the years to come.”

    10th November 2016 – An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny T.D. today “turned the sod” on the development of a new state of the art Interventional Cardiology Suite at Bon Secours Hospital Galway. 10th November 2016 – An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny T.D. today “turned the sod” on the development of a new state of the art Interventional Cardiology Suite at Bon Secours Hospital Galway. The new unit will treat patients requiring procedures such as Angiography, Cardiac Angioplasty and Electrophysiology including the insertion of Cardiac Pacemakers. The development consists of a Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory using the most up to date Siemens technology plus a 10 bay patient recovery area to accommodate those patients being discharged home on the same day. The development also signifies a number of new jobs for the Galway area including 20 Clinical posts to staff the unit and ancillary jobs in the construction industry.

    The Bon Secours Hospital Galway is pleased to announce, its affiliation, with the medical school of the National University Hospital Galway which commenced in May 2015. As a result of discussions we had our first intake, of final year undergraduate medical students, to Bon Secours Hospital Galway in January 2016. We are delighted to report that the group of students that rotated through General Surgery and Orthopaedics between the period January 2016 and April 2016 have subsequently graduated and have now commenced work as medical interns. During their period at Bon Secours Hospital Galway these final year medical students took histories and where integrally involved in clinical workload in the hospital, at both ward, theatre and outpatient level. The feedback from staff and student alike, as well as patients, was extremely positive. We hope to build on this experience in years ahead.
